Apartment for a Restless Architect
May – June 2010
Working within a 16 x 4m rectangular footprint and tiny balcony, the project attempts to create an adaptable shell for a restless architect. Due to limited outdoor space, the main living area and another in the ‘public bedroom’ are re-imagined as ‘inverted balconies’ – places of observation where the lively street activity along the infamous Oxford Road becomes the spectacle. As a response to the architects ever-changing needs all walls are white, lights adjustable, floors smooth to allow for mobile furniture and services exposed for easy retrofitting.
