UrbanWorks is an interdisciplinary design-research studio rooted in Johannesburg, South Africa—a city alive with contradiction, fragility, and fierce imagination. Born of both frustration and fascination, the studio questions how the African city is seen, shaped, and contested.
Working within contexts of rupture and resilience, UrbanWorks engages the city as a site of inquiry and invention. It seeks to forge new methods of design—attuned to urgency, steeped in research, and unapologetically speculative.
